Nestled in the hills of northeastern Pennsylvania lies the Greensleeves Flowers Farm, a small, family run operation.
Our year starts when the seed companies catalogs arrive. Seeds from all over the world are ordered including some of the most unusual. In addition, many of the varieties we grow are from seed collected and saved on our farm.
Starting at the end of January, seeds are sown in the greenhouse. Planting and transplanting are in full swing come April and May. After transplanting the seedlings, the flowers are transplanted into one of our four gardens outside. The plants are carefully nurtured to produce strong plants with beautiful flowers.
Harvest lasts the summer and into the first weeks of fall. Each flower is picked at its own best moment to preserve the flower at its finest . The flowers are gathered and hung to air-dry in our 150 year old barn.
The flowers dry quickly under the warmth of the barn's black roof. This captures the vibrant colors that are distinct in our flowers.
The wreaths are created from the abundance of our summer labors. We gather armloads of flowers and transform them into wonderful wreaths, full of color and texture.
